Champagne Girard-Bonnet - Caferlane Grand Cru 2020
This Caferlane displays a slightly richer, sunnier profile that is supported by racy acidity
Paul Girard embodies both of his parents’ ancestry and brings new life to Chardonnay through a stunning selection of Côte des Blanc Champagnes. Merging the Girard & Bonnet Estates in Mesnil sur Oger he works towards creating a grower-maker brand in honour of his origins. The Caferlane derives from an east-facing lieu-dit in the historical part of the village, planted in 1989.
The 2020 Blanc de Blancs Oger Caferlane, disgorged in November 2025 with a dosage of two grams per litre. It is a close-run contest this year between Girard’s two single-vineyard offerings, with this wine expressing itself in the glass with aromas of orange peel, Granny Smith apple, wheat toast and quince. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and displays a slightly richer, sunnier profile that is supported by racy acidity, concluding in a long, sapid finish. 93 points - Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate.
