Domaine Édouard Confuron
Domaine Édouard Confuron
Édouard Confuron, the son of François Confuron-Gindre, is currently taking over at the family estate in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Confuron-Gindre, while also taking the leap to start his own domaine.
Over time he has been able to implement qualitative evolutions in the vineyard and winery that bring some extra finesse into the wines, yet he still remains respectful of his family’s traditions. His new domaine is his chance to create wines of his very own character and speak to the terroir in a new style that represent his well learned skills along with new age developments.

Édouard’s domaine covers just 1.50ha, but provides seven wines. Most of the land has come from the family, with Nuits-St-Georges Aux Allots as a farming contract. Spanning across the Côte de Nuits with plots in Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Confuron name has always resonated very far in Vosne-Romanée with three influential branches (including Jean-Jacques Confuron and Confuron-Cotetidot) of the family owning substantial holdings in the village. So while only just beginning his legacy, he has the strong backing of his family and access to plots rarely accessible to new winemakers of the region.
Edouard plans to certify as organic in the near future, as his family domaine practises organics but has not yet been certified. His wines are made in a small cuverie down on the old RN74, with a cellar attached to the family domaine. Edouard uses more whole bunches than in the family range, and vinifies those cuvées without sulphur, only adding it at the end.
The current collection of Edouard Confuron wines include:
- Bourgogne Aligote
- Coteaux Bourguignons
- Bourgogne Pinot Noir
- Nuits-St-Georges "Aux Allots"
- Gevrey-Chambertin "Seuvrees"
- Vosne-Romanee "Pre de la Folie"
- Vosne-Romanee "Hautes Maizieres"
- Gevrey-Chambertin "Seuvrees"
