About the Evening

Welcome to Rhône... Join Alex Rougeot, Liinaa Berry & Peter Gunn on a journey through the slopes of the Valley down to the cobblestones of Rasteau. This collaboration of three professionals presenting three powerhouse producers is a rare combination and not to be missed. Hosted at IDES in Collingwood, Head Chef Peter Gunn has crafted 5 unique courses to match perfectly to the bold flavours of Rhône wines.

While seated in this intimate restaurant, Liinaa Berry & Alex Rougeot will walk you through the vines of Cote-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, Saint-Peray, Rasteau, and the Cote du Rhône. But first to freshen the palate, a glass of Blanc de Blancs by Champagne Freres Mignon on arrival.

To accompany the first course, we welcome the first glass of Domaine du Trapadis with their representation of Cote du Rhône White, a Grenache Blanc that sits perfectly alongside a glass of Saint-Péray by Bernard Gripa. We then move into the richer and fuller white wines of northern Rhône with the next stop being the Saint-Joseph vineyards in the hands of Bernard Gripa, then a gorgeous Cote du Rhône Blanc by Jean-Luc Jamet.

As you are served your third dish, it will be time to sample the known and loved Grenache varietal as vinified by Domaine du Trapadis, their Rasteau is simply stunning. Especially when sitting perfectly alongside a glass of Saint-Joseph Red by Bernard Gripa.

For the penultimate course, it is time to indulge in some serious Syrahs, with a 2018 vintage Cote-Rôtie by Jean-Luc Jamet and an old vine Saint-Joseph Red "Berceau" by Bernard Gripa. These are bold wines with nothing to hide, ready to be enjoyed as the evening begins to wind down.

Not to forget the sweet tooths in the room, a splash of Vin Doux Naturel by Trapadis will go down perfectly with dessert as the evening comes to a close. I implore you to secure a ticket to this perfect winter evening at IDES and open up new doors to Rhône that you are yet to discover.
