ONLY PREMIER CRUS!
A very rare opportunity to drink old vintages from some of Burgundy’s best villages: Volnay and Pommard from a top quality Domaine. Volnay is constantly producing some of the most elegant Pinot Noirs in the world.
Following last year’s great success, we’re teaming up with Entrecôte South Yarra to host another wine dinner showcasing the magnificent wines of Domaine Yvon Clerget from Volnay, Burgundy. It is going to take place in the private room at “La Maison” on Domain Road. A superb five course dinner will be served with Champagne on arrival and nine Burgundy wines including eight premier crus with vintages dating back to 2005!!
I will be personally introducing these wines and taking you through a fabulous journey into the majestic region of Burgundy. From Meursault to Volnay and Pommard, we’ll explore the Côte de Beaune, home of astonishing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
About Domaine Clerget:
With roots in the village of Volnay dating back to the XIII century, the Clerget family has had the luxury of time to help select their vineyard plots from generation to generation. Over the last five years, the Domaine was somewhat dormant as the grapes were sold to wine merchants. Today, it comprises six hectares of the finest Volnay land as well as that of Meursault, Pommard and Clos Vougeot. Thibaud Clerget has taken over the Domaine and, at the age of 24, has begun the rejuvenation of one of the great Burgundian estates. His wines are delicate, vibrant and show their tremendous pedigree.
What the critic Steen Ohman says about Domaine Clerget:
“This is quite impressive in the first vintage – 2015 may be a great vintage for the reds – but the risk of over-ripeness was very much imminent especially in Côte de Beaune – and its great to see that Thibaud has managed to steer clear of the pitfalls of the vintage and have produced such balanced wines .. impressive.
This is a great start for a new talent – and he does show great prospects – but to call Thibaud a rising star after just one vintage like 2015 would be unfair to him as he need to explore the terroirs and refine his style before expectations are set too high. The potential is certainly here … and I can’t wait to taste the 2016s as I think it’s a vintage that will suit the style well.” – Steen Ohman, Winehog, 27/02/2017
