About the Evening

As we venture into the cooler months, join Paolo at Amazon State Restaurant in Hawthorn to journey through the Banks of Bordeaux over a decadent 4 course meal.

As you arrive a glass of Pierre Paillard Champagne will awaken your palate from the Grand Cru village of Bouzy. Settling into your seats with the first course of Antipasti presented to you, a glass of Champs Libres by the winemakers of Chateau Lafleur will be your introduction to the Sauvignon Blanc of Bordeaux. This white wine reflection of Lafleur's clay-limestone soils is truly captivating for your first step into the chateaux.

For your pasta course, we will be pairing the ragu with a glass of Chateau Le Coteau - Margaux 'Anthophora' 2019 and Clos du Marquis - St Julien 2012. Both are stunning representations of the Left Bank from appellations that are continuing to rise in renown each vintage.

Main course comes with nothing less than three powerhouse Right Bank wines from the 2011 vintage. A truly iconic listing with Chateau La Grave - Pomerol 2011, Chateau Belair-Monange - St Emilion Grand Cru 2011 and Chateau La Fleur-Petrus - Pomerol 2011, there is no denying this will be an impressive collection to pair with your venison. These chateaux, managed carefully by the Moeuix family, are a representation of peak Pomerol and Saint-Emilion. With gorgeous aromas and well-defined palates, it is a trio of wines on a tier of their own.

Finally, to wind down the evening with a sweet treat, the Chateau D'Arche Lafaurie 2016 is a 100% semillon cuvee perfect as a final touch of nectar. This May is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in a gastronomic journey of expertly crafted dishes with finely paired wines of France. From Pomerol to Margaux, Saint-Emilion to Sauternes, no stone will be left unturned at this Bordeaux wine dinner.
