Owner of Domaine Belargus, Ivan Massonnat is joining us here in Australia in January 2025 for a deep dive into his precise and elegant Chenin Blancs from Anjou and Savennieres.
Having now established his estate over the last 6 years, we will be able to share with you wines from the 2019 up to the 2022 vintage. Being highly selective on the order in which the wines are released to the public, Ivan Massonnat takes time and care working out the drinkability of each of his wines to ensure you can enjoy the full potential of what Loire Valley Chenin has to offer. This dinner will take you through each vineyard of his elite estate alongside perfectly paired dishes from the Charles Brasserie in Sydney and the Botanical Hotel in Melbourne.
"This is one of the most spectacular new entries in the history of The Wine Advocate, and it makes the Loire, especially its tributary, Layon, one of the most fascinating terroirs in the Anjou region." - Wine Advocate
Delve deep into the Anjou terroir alongside Ivan as his passion floods the room on this once in a lifetime occasion. If you thought you knew Loire Valley wines, think again, these are stellar representations of Chenin Blanc from around the area known as Anjou Noir, a land of schist, including ten hectares across the Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru. All the vines are farmed biodynamically and hand-picked so only the best fruit makes it to the press and into bottle for you to enjoy.
For those unfamiliar with Chenin Blanc from Domaine Belargus, consider them as the finest white Burgundies reimagined on Grand Cru Loire Valley terroir...
Please join us at this exciting event to dine with the expert himself.
