Alvina Pernot | 2022 Vintage Release

Alvina Pernot | 2022 Vintage Release

We welcome the beginning of a flourishing vintage with the incredible 2022 cuvees by Alvina Pernot. Pushing through the harrowing 2021 vintage, we now arrive at the abundant and finessed 2022 wines that present Burgundy on a silver platter.

With their brand new cellar now well and truly in production, the vinification and bottling is completely controlled by Alvina and Phillippe, bringing out their unique signature of lean and mineral Chardonnays. Over such a short period of time their wine project has grown significantly, from 8,000 bottles across seven cuvées to 35,000 bottles across 25 cuvées in 2022! Now aiming to maintain this level of production, they ensure there is no compromise on quality. Expanding their Premier Cru repertoire this powerhouse couple have a plethora of vines on hand to nurture into one of the greatest estates of Puligny-Montrachet, to rival that of Alvina's grandfather, Paul Pernot.

While the foundations and locations of Alvina's vines are that of Paul Pernot's, that is where their wines' similarities end. You will find that Alvina and Philippe's wines are not your traditional rich style but a leaner and more mineral, drinkable style. Opting to harvest a few days prior to Paul Pernot, they are crisper grapes that are crushed in a very gentle press. Another key element to the Alvina Pernot style is reducing the use of new oak and experimenting with both amphorae and glass vessels for the ageing cycle.

Diving into the vineyards at their fingertips, there are some stunning cuvées produced and enjoyed. Beginning with two Bourgogne Blanc bottlings (L’Epée and La Rue de Bois), a village Saint-Romain, two village Puligny-Montrachet wines (La Rue aux Vaches and Clos des Noyers Brets). Alvina has really taken charge of Premier Cru plots across the Cote de Beaune with sites in Saint-Aubin (Les Créots and Les Combes), Meursault (Les Porusots, Les Charmes, La Pièce sous le Bois, and Les Perrières), and in Puligny-Montrachet (Folatières, Clos de la Garenne, La Garenne, Clos de la Jacquelotte, Chalumaux, Pucelles and Caillerets). For the favourable years they also pick from the Grands Crus of Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne.

What a truly incredible glow up for Alvina & Phillippe. Please enjoy a few bottles of this ever growing & dominating selection of Burgundies.
