Marli Russell (by Mount Mary) - RP2 2022

Set in the heart of the Yarra Valley, Mount Mary is a family owned estate crafting finessed wines across 40 acres of vines. The single vineyard estate is now run by Sam & Claire Middleton who works diligently in the vines as his father, David, and grandfather, John, once did. The RP2 blend includes all four red varieties from our Marli Russell plantings and the progression of these Rhone varieties, in our vineyard for 15 years now, has been extremely pleasing.

The 2022 RP2 is quite simply a delicious wine. One of the hallmarks of all 2022 red wines is impressive colour intensity, and this wine is no exception. It has a brilliant deep red, purple hue. The nose is dominated by beautiful, pure ripe Grenache/Shiraz aromas of ripe raspberries, stewed strawberry and plum, with nuances of liquorice and spice. The palate is perfectly weighted with luscious, dense fruit and a clean cut of tannin lending a savouriness to the ripe, bright fruit profile. Shows impressive length and persistence on the palate.
