Lacoste-Borie - Pauillac 2018
The second vin of Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a stunning representation of the Pauillac region. As a family owned Chateau, the Borie family has owned the property since 1978, with François-Xavier Borie restoring it to greatness and preserving its spirit.
Grand-Puy-Lacoste is situated in the terroir of Pauillac, one of the Médoc's six communal appellations along the Gironde estuary's left bank. The estate comprises of 90 hectares, 58 planted with vines, that are entirely located around the Château. Today the balance between young and old vines is fully established at an average age of 38 years.
The 2018 Lacoste-Borie is plump, silky and absolutely delicious. Bright red cherry, plum and mocha add lovely shades of nuance throughout. I would prefer to drink this succulent, mid-weight Pauillac over the next handful of years, while it retains its youthful juiciness. The blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc. Tasted two times. 89-92 points - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.
