Edouard Confuron - Nuits-St-Georges 'Aux Allots' 2024
The Aux Allots is a delightful mixture of dark red fruit and white pepper spice.
Edouard Confuron hails from the 6 generation family Domaine, Confuron-Gindre, located on Rue de La Tâche. While working with his father, François Confuron-Gindre, he has slowly – and successfully, created his own distinct style of wines now presented through his own micro-domaine. The 2021 vintage is the first formal representation of Edouard's personal range of wines. He handpicks grapes from a selection of his father's plots across Vosne-Romanee, Gevrey-Chambertin, and Nuits St Georges.
As much purple as ruby, with a brisk red fruit immediately apparent, fresh raspberry with some pepper. Deliciously juicy on the palate, rich cherry, a little crushed strawberry, and a fine long and clean finish. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Nov 2025. 90-92 points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
(from a .38 ha parcel). Enough wood to remark upon frames the equally cool and airy nose of even earthier red and dark berry fruit aromas of violet and a whiff of the sauvage. The succulent yet solidly powerful and concentrated medium weight flavors coat the palate with sap that also serves to buffer the moderately firm tannic spine shaping the slightly rustic finish. A few years of cellaring should see this competent effort drinking well. 88-91 points - Allen Meadows, Burghound.
100% Pinot Noir.
