Tasting Notes

The “Vide Bourse” displays phenomenal structure with aromas of spiced peaches, citrus blossom, mandarin and honey.

Joseph Colin initially trained at Domaine Marc Colin, working alongside his brother, Pierre-Yves, to make the family wines. In 2016, Joseph decided to create his own Domaine, and, subsequently, inherited just over six hectares of vineyards from his family holding, representing about nineteen different appellations, to start his exciting new venture. “Vide Bourse” is from a 0.13-ha vineyard located right below Bâtard-Montrachet. Joseph Colin is only one of five other producers with holdings in this vineyard.

A single 500 litre barrel. Glowing pale lemon with green reflections. The bouquet reflects the weight to come, this is rather gorgeous and holds its long white shape with some riper notes too from the fruit. I am slightly more in love with En Cailleret today but this has much to recommend it. Vide Bourse never sulks, says Joseph. 93-95 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.

100% Chardonnay.

Technical notes

Only healthy grapes make it to the press; the wines are also handled as little as possible, therefore there is no bâttonage, filtration or fining and no sulphur is used during the winemaking process until racking where minimal amounts are used. Fermentation and maceration is processed in 350-litre oak barrels for 12 months, before three months in stainless before bottling.
