Domaine Joseph Colin - Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2024
This “Bâtard-Montrachet” is gracefully refined, exuding powerful aromas of burnt butter, dried apricot, peach, citrus fruits and a breadth of spice.
Joseph Colin initially trained at Domaine Marc Colin, working alongside his brother, Pierre-Yves, to make the family wines. In 2016, Joseph decided to create his own Domaine, and, subsequently, inherited just over six hectares of vineyards from his family holding, representing about nineteen different appellations, to start his exciting new venture. This vineyard sits next to Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, from 50-plus-year-old vines.
The aromas are tighter but have super depth. Super scale – a hint more direct than the subtle generosity of the Vide Bourse. Then a wide, panoramic view of fields of flowers, subtly vibrating from the acidity. Wow, that’s a contemplative finish – clearly a great finishing wine. Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.

It is a wine of undeniable harmony on the palate with smoky, ripe orchard fruit and refreshing citrus and minerals to finish. It will perfectly pair with fine foods such as foie gras, caviar, oysters, crayfish, scallops and white fish. You can drink it now with a 30-minute decant before serving or cellar it up until 2032+. 100% Chardonnay.
Technical notes
Only healthy grapes make it to the press; the wines are also handled as little as possible, therefore there is no bâttonage, filtration or fining and no sulphur is used during the winemaking process until racking where minimal amounts are used. Fermentation and maceration is processed in 350-litre oak barrels for 12 months, before three months in stainless before bottling.
