Samuel Billaud - Bourgogne D'Or 2022
A ripe and nicely fresh nose combines notes of mostly citrus and white orchard fruit. There is both solid volume and energy to the delicious middleweight flavours that conclude in a refreshing, nicely dry and zesty finish where a touch of spritz slowly appears. This offers good quality for its level. 87 points - Allen Meadows. Chardonnay.
Champagne Pierre Paillard - Bouzy Grand Cru "Les Parcelles" NV
The Extra Brut Les Parcelles is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay picked in Bouzy and barrel-fermented. A touch of smoky plum hits the nose first. This fruit is far more expressive on the palate, presenting crunchy blue plum flavours dispersed by frothy yet gentle mousse. Lovely saltiness and freshness give an edge to this youthful and fruit-driven wine. Anne Krebiehl, Vinous. 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay.
Domaine Belargus - Savennieres "Gaudrets" 2022
Belargus’s Savennières Les Gaudrets has turned out beautifully, evoking aromas of white fruits, ripe orchard fruits, spices and spring flowers intertwined with oak hints. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, fleshy and textural, it’s enveloping and deep with a toasty, ethereal finish. A little more austere than the Clos des Ruchères, it offers good aging potential. 92 points - Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate. Chenin Blanc.
Domaine Gavoty - Rose Grand Classique 2022
The hue is pale pink, with a nose marked by white-fleshed fruits. On the palate, we clearly find fruits which reveals a nice balance playing on a greedy roundness and a nice freshness. Fruits and spices dominate. It drinks very well and easily. By opening a bottle of the Gavoty – Rosé Grand Classique, you bring a piece of Provence to your home. 70% Cinsault, 30% Grenache.
Philippe Alliet - Chinon "Tradition" 2023
Philippe Alliet has produced a clean, pure 2023 Tradition, offering aromas of dark wild berries, liquorice, coniferous forest and cedar, followed by a moderately weighted, tense and elegant palate that is framed by powdery tannins and fine acidity, concluding with a fine-sculpted finish. It's easy to drink, pleasant and super affordable. Matured in concrete tanks. 90 Points, Yohan Castaing, Vinous. Cabernet Franc.
Marli Russell - RP2 Red 2022
The 2022 RP2 is quite simply a delicious wine. One of the hallmarks of all 2022 red wines is impressive colour intensity, and this wine is no exception. It has a brilliant deep red, purple hue. The nose is dominated by beautiful, pure ripe Grenache/Shiraz aromas of ripe raspberries, stewed strawberry and plum, with nuances of liquorice and spice. The palate is perfectly weighted with luscious, dense fruit and a clean cut of tannin lending a savouriness to the ripe, bright fruit profile. Shows impressive length and persistence on the palate. 55% Grenache, 30% Shiraz, 10% Cinsault, 5% Mourvedre.
Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande - Saint-Estephe 2015
The 2015 Tronquoy-Lalande feels just a little herbaceous (not green) on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with supple tannin, quite fresh and classic in style with lightly spiced, black pepper-tinged blackberry and bilberry fruit. Demonstrating ample grip on the finish, this should mature into a commendable Saint-Estephe. 91 points, Neal Martin, Vinous. 37% Cabernet Sauvignon 55% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc
Domaine Rougeot - Bourgogne Pinot Noir "Les Vaux" Nature 2022
More chalky soil here, the vines are practically behind the cuverie of Coche-Dury. A more meaty and saline nose – some destemming here – 30% – ‘a wine that always needs 18 months of aging.’ Mouth-filling with enviable freshness and energy again – meaty style to the fruit once more – good wine. Strong finishing… Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report.
Fabrice Dodane (Saint-Pierre) - VDF "Tout Facile" 2023
Very light fire red, on the nose a cocktail of raspberries, red currants and wild strawberries, nuances of blackberry leaves and pine cones, literally smells of acidity and minerality. On the palate an airy texture, wiry body supported by a strong acidity, harmoniously supported by tannin, red berries again, subtle flint, the extremely juicy drinking flow ensures great potential for fun. Syrah, Grenache, Trousseau.
Domaine Sparr - Riesling "Sentiment" 2022
This is a remarkable wine for an entry-level dry Alsace riesling. Stunning nose of flowers, honey, allspice and oranges. Rich and mellow on the full-bodied palate, but also lively and animated in spite of the modest acidity for this grape. Long, silky finish. The cuvee includes wine from the Grand Cru Brand site. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold. 93 points, James Suckling.
Domaine Du Bouchot - Pouilly-Fume "Terres Blanches" 2022
Apple and fresh hay on the nose. Medium body with more citrusy and stony flavors and a touch of dry-mineral grip at the end. A tidy white with lots of mineral influence that gives a harder feel to it this year. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Unfiltered. Drink now. 91 points - James Suckling. Sauvignon Blanc.
Domaine de Bel Air - Beaujolais White 2023
With its ripe pear and white flower character, this stands out in the field of white Beaujolais, showcasing a warmer side of the chardonnay grape to the norm. Very good balance of creaminess and fine tannin on the palate. No so long, but smooth at the finish. 90 points - James Suckling. Chardonnay.
