Pierre Girardin - Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Pucelles" 2022
Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a 13th generation Burgundian winemaker who grew up among the vines in his father’s Domaine.. Starting his own label with the family holdings of Les Folatières in Puligny-Montrachet at the age of 21, he has become a formidable force among young winemakers in Burgundy. Expanding beyond the 4.5 hectares, his family contacts brought him access to top growers in Puligny Folatières, Volnay Clos des Chênes, Pommard Epenots, Corton-Charlemagne, as well as Grand Cru Montrachet.
From one of the top Premier Cru sites of Puligny-Montrachet, this cuvee is from vines neighbouring Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru on brown and thin clay-limestone soils. Vinified as whole cluster, 11 months in oak barrels (100% new), 6 months in steel tank. Pastry and brioche flavours, pleasant reduction on the nose, good acidity on the mouth. Wine bursting with vitality, mouth-watering juice. Ageing potential: 10 to 20 years.
100% Chardonnay.
