Pierre Girardin - Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022
This Bourgogne Chardonnay is modern and fruity.
Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a 13th generation Burgundian winemaker who grew up among the vines in his father’s Domaine. Starting his own label with the family holdings of Les Folatières in Puligny-Montrachet at the age of 21, he has become a formidable force among young winemakers in Burgundy. Expanding beyond the 4.5 hectares, his family contacts brought him access to top growers in Puligny Folatières, Volnay Clos des Chênes, Pommard Epenots, Corton-Charlemagne.
100% Chardonnay, from organically grown vines from 5 lieux-dits in Meursault (Magny, Murger des Limozins and Les Herbeux for 80%), Pommard (l’Aumone 10%) and Volnay (Monpoulain 10%). All on limestone soils, the grapes are combined and vinified as whole clusters, then has 9 months in oak barrels (30% new) and 3 months in steel tanks. This is a sharp and full-bodied wine, round at the end of the mouth also with great minerality. Energetic and crystalline wine with yeast aromas. Drink now or age for up to 5 years.
