Domaine de Cassiopée - Maranges Rouge "Les Plantes" 2023
This Maranges Rouge offers up aromas of wild berries and smoked meats.
Brand new estate in the heart of Sampigny-les-Maranges in 2020, Domaine de Cassiopée is run by Talloulah and Hugo Mathurin who are working hard to make a mark on this under the radar appellation. Domaine de Cassiopée sits on the eastern end within close proximity to the premier cru vineyards.
110 year old vines which still produce really well. Mid crimson colour. The bouquet here is once again on the wilder side. Much purer on the palate, though, with an excellent tensile strength, the fruit also covering the tannins, and a little acidity. A minor volatile note is well within bounds. This should work out very well. Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy. 2022 review.
100% Pinot Noir.
What we say
"An exciting new addition to the Burgundy winemaking scene!"
Technical notes
The reds are mostly destemmed, and matured in barrel (few of which are new) or concrete egg, depending on the cuvée.
