Domaine Henri Boillot - Pommard 1er Cru "Clos Blanc" 2022
In one generation, Henri Boillot has dramatically increased the quality of his Domaine wines and created a boutique négoce of the highest reputation. The wines, honed by Henri’s prodigious talent, display such a high level of detail and complexity that it is fair to say that they are among the very best representatives of Burgundy’s finest.
The second vintage of this new domaine bottling chez Boillot, the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Clos Blanc offers up lovely aromas of rose petals, spices, raw cocoa, sweet berry fruit and cassis. Medium to full-bodied, rich and muscular, with lively acids and ample reserves of powdery tannin, it’s a touch more serious and reserved than its 2018 sibling was at the same stage. Drink 2027-2032. 100% Pinot Noir.
Replanted in 2012. An even crimson colour. The oak gives a light covering to the nose. Stylish red fruit beneath, no more than medium intensity. And not over ripe. A certain amount of spice from the barrel, some tannins but not in excess, fresh strawberries to finish. Drink from 2029-2036. 91-93pts, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
