Henri Boillot - Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2022
This Bourgogne Pinot Noir is fruity, very complex, with firm tanins.
In his generation, Henri Boillot has dramatically increased the quality of his Domaine wines and created a boutique négoce listed among the very best of the region. Today, the wines, created by Henri’s talent are displaying such a high level of detail and complexity that it is fair to say that they are among the very best representatives of Burgundy.
The Bourgogne Pinot Noir showcases fresh notes of red fruit, earth and delicate nuances of spice. The palate is condensed and concentrated with subtle tannins and a lingering finish. It would go well with game, charcuterie, cow’s milk cheese and dark chocolate. It can be enjoyed now by decanting it 25 minutes before service or it can be cellared up until 2025+.
Marsannay, Santenay, Pernand, Monthelie and a touch of real Bourgogne. These are grape contracts but all harvested by the Henri Boillot team. Summer pudding fruits, a bundle of energy. This is the one wine which is not vinified in barrels – vinification intégrale – but instead it is aged in all the spare barrels from the other crus after they have been vinified in that manner. A solid deep purple colour. A fine balanced red fruit on the palate with good acidity, altogether a zesty feeling to the fruit. Drink from 2025-2028. 88-90 points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
100% Pinot Noir.
- What we say
- Technical notes
"This is a pretty Bourgogne Pinot Noir that actually delivers a fantastic complexity on the palate. By far above many regional Pinots, and age worthy."
At Domaine Henri Boillot, the work done in the vineyard is meticulous, following organic practices and aiming to get very low yields to naturally concentrate the fruit. The grapes are sorted in the vineyard and harvested by hand. Arriving at the Domaine, the grapes are sorted again and then traditional practices are used to make the wine. However, Henri and his son Guillaume make sure that the must* and then the wine is never overworked. They will be intervening as little as possible to preserve the essence of the terroir’s identity.
