Pierre Girardin - Pommard 1er Cru "Les Rugiens Bas" 2022
The Pommard Rugien Bas has good acidity with some sweet fruit notes.
Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a 13th generation Burgundian winemaker who grew up among the vines in his father’s Domaine.. Starting his own label with the family holdings of Les Folatières in Puligny-Montrachet at the age of 21, he has become a formidable force among young winemakers in Burgundy. Expanding beyond the 4.5 hectares, his family contacts brought him access to top growers in Puligny Folatières, Volnay Clos des Chênes, Pommard Epenots, Corton-Charlemagne, as well as Grand Cru Montrachet.
Sitting opposite Epenots, in the south of Pommard on clay and limestone soils, very red and ferruginous. Vinified as whole cluster, with 9 months in oak barrels (40% new), 4 months in steel tank. No fining nor filtration. Elegant and crispy on the mouth, fine acidity with fresh and floral aromas of dried roses. Very pure juice. You can enjoy this by decanting or age for up to 14 years.
100% Pinot Noir.
