Domaine de Cassiopée - Maranges Rouge "Saugeot" 2022
Brand new estate in the heart of Sampigny-les-Maranges in 2020, Domaine de Cassiopée is run by Talloulah and Hugo Mathurin who are working hard to make a mark on this under the radar appellation. Domaine de Cassiopée sits on the eastern end within close proximity to the premier cru vineyards.
The Maranges Le Saugeot 2022 comes from a cool area; the vineyard is shaped a bit like the old Greek theatres. This is fragile, with a fine tannic structure that is slightly austere, if a bit prominent. The floral minerality reminds me of red Blagny. 87 points, Steen Öhman, Winehog. 100% Pinot Noir.
- What we say
- Technical notes
"An exciting new addition to the Burgundy winemaking scene!"
The reds are mostly destemmed, and matured in barrel (few of which are new) or concrete egg, depending on the cuvée.
