Domaine de Cassiopée - Hautes-Cotes de Beaune Blanc "Cotés" 2022
This Cotes Blanc has lovely, innocent, exotic fruit that is sweetly expressive.
Brand new estate in the heart of Sampigny-les-Maranges in 2020, Domaine de Cassiopée is run by Talloulah and Hugo Mathurin who are working hard to make a mark on this under the radar appellation. Domaine de Cassiopée sits on the eastern end within close proximity to the premier cru vineyards. These grapes have two thirds from a four-year-old planting on limestone rock, the rest from vines on granitic rock. The two plots face each other on the ‘cold hill.’
The 2021 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc Les Côtés exhibits aromas of citrus oil, waxy orchard fruit, nutmeg and vanilla pod, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and nicely concentrated palate with good texture and cut. 88-90 points - William Kelley, Wine Advocate. 100% Chardonnay.
What we say
"An exciting new addition to the Burgundy winemaking scene!"
Technical notes
Whites are pressed without crushing and barreled down without much settling. This wine is matured in barrel (few of which are new) or concrete egg, depending on the cuvée.
