Champagne Les Freres Mignons - Terroir de Cramant Grand Cru 2019

This first Grand Cru released by the brothers is incredibly classy.

The Blanc de Blancs made by the brothers Florent and Julien after they left the local cooperative are a result of working the vineyards largely without chemicals. The estate is divided as 90% planted in Chardonnay in the villages of Avize, Cramant and Cuis, the remaining 10% Pinot Noir in Cumières. Extreme sensitivity and attention are reserved for the management of the vineyard. These grapes comes from Le Bateau, a Grand Cru plot facing East.

A pure streak of lemon, tempered by Genoise sponge, makes for a most inviting nose. The palate is rounded and has an edge of mouth-watering saltiness. Lightness and leesy richness goes hand in hand here, guided along by lemon and enlivened by fine, still slightly frothy foam. Ripeness of fruit is evident, as is a chalky backdrop and mellow autolysis. The lemony verve and textural depth is lasting and most appetizing. 94 points - Anne Krebiehl, Vinous.
