Domaine des Ardoisieres - Argile Red 2022
The bouquet has an exotic complexity, leaping out of the glass with violets, spicy red fruits, pomegranates and rich iron minerals. The inclusion of mondeuse brings more depth and complexity, with added spiciness, and more structure to the palate. This offers an exciting aromatic range – violet, pomegranate, spicy red fruits and a very irony, stony mineral flecked palate. Drink now with a 30-minute decant before serving or keep until 2030+. 65% Gamay, 25% Mondeuse, 10% Persan.
Domaine Rougeot - Bourgogne Pinot Noir "Les Vaux" Nature 2022
More chalky soil here, the vines are practically behind the cuverie of Coche-Dury. A more meaty and saline nose – some destemming here – 30% – ‘a wine that always needs 18 months of aging.’ Mouth-filling with enviable freshness and energy again – meaty style to the fruit once more – good wine. Strong finishing… Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report. 100% Pinot Noir.
Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande - Saint-Estephe 2015
The 2015 Tronquoy-Lalande feels just a little herbaceous (not green) on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with supple tannin, quite fresh and classic in style with lightly spiced, black pepper-tinged blackberry and bilberry fruit. Demonstrating ample grip on the finish, this should mature into a commendable Saint-Estephe. 91 points, Neal Martin, Vinous. 37% Cabernet Sauvignon 55% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc.
Domaine Sparr - Pinot Noir "Montagne des Roses" 2019
A little richer and more earth-bound than the Jardin, with deeper red berry fruit and elements of sous-bois beginning to develop. Sweet fruit attack is balanced by soft ripe tannins and well-integrated acidity, while the finish shows a complex mix of red berry fruit, rose petal and some pleasing autumnal leaves. 100% Pinot Noir
Domaine Vaccelli - Vaccelli Red 2021
Containing notes of kirsch, plum, black currant, sweet spices. It has a crisp, aromatic, fresh and airy mouthfeel. Long finish enhanced by a lovely acidity. Drink now with a 40 minute decanter or cellar 4-6 years.
Philippe Alliet - Chinon "Coteau de Noire" 2021
The 2021 Chinon Coteau de Noiré stands out as exceptional. It unfolds in the glass with aromas of lead pencil, liquorice, dark wild berries and cassis. Full-bodied, dense and chunky, it’s seamless and velvety with a layered core of fruit framed by powdery, generous tannins that segues into a long, mineral finish framed by perfectly controlled power. I appreciate wines like this that purely express the terroirs and are capable of long ageing. 95 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate. 100% Cabernet Franc.
Chateau Baron de Brane - Margaux 2019
The 2019 Baron de Brane offers fine lift on the nose of almost airy red berry fruit, raspberry confit and rose petals; a light loamy scent emerges with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh opening, and a little angular initially, but it coheres toward the middle, delivering tart red cherries, fine acidity and good delineation toward the pencil-lead-infused finish. A fine Deuxieme Vin. 91 points, Neal Martin, Vinous. 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot.
Fabrice Dodane (Saint-Pierre) - Arbois Red "Ploussard" 2023
Due to the difficult year in terms of harvest with small yet excellent quality of grapes, Fabrice decided to get source additional Ploussard grapes from his friends in Arbois to supplement his own and produce more bottles of his Ploussard; therefore in 2023 this wine is labelled under his negoce range, but there is no doubt that the Ploussard inside the bottle holds the inevitable indelible and recognisable signature of Fabrice, who always transforms it into a juice of extreme elegance, finesse and incredible quality! 100% Ploussard.
Domaine du Trapadis - Chateau-Neuf-Du-Pape red 2023
Purple colour, rich and intense. Lively nose composed of aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrants, and grapefruit with hints of lemongrass. And also spicy touches of pepper and curry. On the palate, the freshness and power are expressed intensely and balanced on a silky, elegant, and generous material. 75% Grenache noir, 11% Mourvèdre, 11% Syrah, Vaccarèse, Cinsault, Counoise.
Maison Advinam - La Donna 2019
The nose is very pretty, with flavours of violet flower, delicate red and blueberry fruits and nuanced spicy notes. The palate has a very silky attack, concentrated and powerful, it lingers with plenty of aromatic complexity. This is a remarkably well crafted wine by Anne Buiatti. Drink now by decanting for 35 minutes or cellar up to 2028+. 100% Syrah.
Domaine Les Creisses - Les Brunes 2021
Les Brunes has wonderful depth of dark, sweet fruit flavours, with black cherry and blackcurrant dominating on the nose. Cedar and cinnamon flavours evolve on the palate, with intense concentration of black fruits balancing well with the rounded, juicy tannins. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Mourvèdre, 30% Syrah.
Domaine de Saint-Pierre - Arbois red "Saint-Pierre" 2023
Vinified from certified organic grapes, the 2023 Pinot Noir Arbois Saint-Pierre opens with alluring pomegranate, rosewater and red cherry alongside leafy nuances. Ultra-refreshing and medium-bodied at most, the 2023 is a delicious Jura red. I'd order this juicy, almost citric Pinot immediately if I spotted it on a restaurant wine list. 92 points, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous. 100% Pinot Noir.
