Rosé | The Perfect Solution to a Hot Summer's Day

Rosé does not require a perfect summer's day.... but a perfect Summer day quite possibly requires Rosé... Introducing the exceptional wines by Provence's Domaine Gavoty.

Now is the perfect time to enjoy the trademark minerality and freshness of Domaine Gavoty wines that embody the region where weather extremes are also key to what makes Gavoty wine so exceptional; roasting summers and bitter winters result in grapes maturing slower, as the vines are forced to find water deep within the limestone rich soil to survive.

Situated in the village of Cabasse, fifty kilometres from Saint-Tropez, Domaine Gavoty embodies all the magic of Provence. Purchased by Philémon Gavoty in 1806, the Domaine remains a family affair under Roselyne Gavoty. Throughout the last two centuries, the Gavoty family has persevered, sometimes against the odds, to see their village gain the viticultural recognition it deserves. Due to the vineyard being planted on the ancient “Triassic plateau” Domaine Gavoty is forced to conduct most farming by traditional hand methods, meaning little has changed in 200 years of harvesting. The vineyards are grown organically, and certified.

Another unique element of the Gavoty wines is the homage to the family’s musical heritage in their exquisite labels, which proudly feature the Domaine’s ancient emblem, a Grecian lyre.

We currently have the exquisite vintages of 2019 and 2020 available.

THE WINES

ROSE CUVEE CIGALE VDP

This “Cuvée Cigale” Rosé is refreshing and vibrant, with hints of strawberries and raspberries. Domaine Gavoty excels at creating soulful Rosé that’s refreshing, yet complex. This Rosé blends Grenache and Cinsault grown on clay and limestone. The bright, peachy hue sets a gorgeously fruit-driven and aromatic tone with lovely lush strawberries and raspberries. The palate is perfectly balanced with crunchy acids and a bone-dry finish. Serve with Mediterranean salads and grilled prawn or lamb skewers, bruschetta, pesto pasta, and decadent cheese boards. Drink now.

ROSE CUVEE CLARENDON 2019 - COTE DE PROVENCE

The Rosé Cuvée Clarendon is the top cuvée of Domaine Gavoty. The name pays tribute to Bernard Gavoty, the Domaine’s founder. The Clarendon cuvée is a selection from the oldest vines of the Domaine and is made of 65% Grenache and 35% Cinsault. A complex nose of subtle raspberry and citrus fruit will delight you. The palate is powerful, driven and flavourful. It goes very well with mixed salads, seafood, lobster, spicy foods and all the classic flavours of Provence (olive oil, lemon, garlic, tomatoes etc). Drink now.

ROSE CUVEE GRAND CLASSIQUE 2020 - COTE DE PROVENCE

The Grand Classique combines Grenache and Cinsaut in roughly equal proportions, with Carignan playing a minor role varying based on the vintage’s character. Displaying an uncanny equilibrium, with racy acidity wed to gleaming fruits that are just the right amount of vinous, it is all strengthened by an elegant, mouth watering texture. A rich wine, this has ripe fruit and a generous texture. Spice, pepper and wild strawberry flavours give a rounded wine that is full bodied, zesty with a warm aftertaste. Drink now.

ROUGE CUVEE CIGALE VDP

Situated in the village of Cabasse, fifty kilometres from Saint-Tropez. Throughout the last two centuries, the Gavoty family has persevered, sometimes against the odds, to see their village gain the viticultural recognition it deserves. Cabasse now stands proud as an official part of the Côte de Provence appellation. A fresh and juicy wine on the nose displaying delicate fruits, with wild berries, blueberries and hints of mint. The palate is gracious, round, and filling with a silky, comforting tannin structure. A wine of joy, easy to drink and a perfect match for a picnic, barbecues and charcuterie platters. 100% Merlot.

BLANC CUVEE CLARENDON 2016

You will find a complex nose of pear and grapefruit, melted with a touch of honey and white flowers. The palate is structured, with the pear and floral notes coming forward, and a fresh and long finish. It could easily age for another eight years in your cellar to get more texture and body. 100% Rolle.
