Pure & Balanced - The wines of Mee Godard stand on their own pedestal above its peers with a level of quality unrivalled in Beaujolais.
This year's offering welcome two new cuvees to the table from Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent. A blend to begin, the Morgon wine is a unique cuvée made every few years where Mee blends a few barrels of her finest just prior to bottling to provide a holistic understanding of the Morgon appellation. The 2023 vintage is a blend of the Corcelette and Cote du Py plots that vies an appealing nose of wild strawberries and lavender to feed into the well balanced palate. As for the new Moulin-à-Vent showcase, I am excited to present the 'Deschanes' parcel, sitting slightly higher than the Au Michelon. Expect airy red fruit tones and a light, bright and crunchy finish, a delight for the senses!
The classics are also here in full force this year with the perfumed and aromatic Corcelette and velvety, deep Grand Cras from Morgon. The two Cote du Py iterations are also a delight this season with a cohesive and poised bottle ready to go and the 577 with its captivating blood orange and raspberry coulis aromas. Finally, not to be left behind our classic Moulin a vent Au Michelon is crunchy and fun this vintage, perfect for popping open today!

TASTING NOTES
BEAUJOLAIS VILLAGES 2023
An excellent Beaujolais-Villages with an excellent combination of restrained fleshiness and supple tannins. Very good depth and length for this category on the well-structured, medium-bodied palate. Made from bought-in grapes from vineyards in Lantignié with volcanic rocks and in Charmonté with sandy soil. Matured in concrete tank. Drink or hold. 92 points - James Suckling.
BEAUJOLAIS BLANC 2023
A remarkably ripe and texturally complex wine for a white Beaujolais. Could almost be Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru. So many peaches and apricots on the creamy, medium-bodied palate. Long, polished finish. Limited production from a site with alluvial soil close to Belleville. Matured in a concrete tank. Drink or hold. 94 points - James Suckling.
COTE DE BROUILLY "METAMORPHOSES" 2022
To the eye, the wine presents a deep garnet red colour, announcing its depth and character. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, mingle with mineral and floral nuances. On the palate, the medium to full-bodied structure is supported by elegant tannins, creating a velvety texture. The 2022 vintage of Métamorphoses Côte de Brouilly offers a rich and persistent taste experience, with an elegant finish that highlights the mineral character of the terroir.
MORGON 2023
At once fresh and well-structured, this is an excellent introduction to the Morgon appellation, but you have to like tannins to really get this. I love the violet aroma and the velvety texture in the crisp finish. A cuvee of wines from the Corcelette and Cote du Py sites. Drink or hold. 93 points - James Suckling.
MORGON “CORCELETTE” 2023
As it flows gracefully over your palate, it builds in expression and intensity. Though the striking blue-fruit aromas are still on the shy side due to the wine’s youth, the wet-stone minerality is very pronounced in the long, seriously structured finish. Drinkable now but best from 2026. 95 points - James Suckling.
MORGON “GRAND CRAS” 2023
Welcome to the deep end of Morgon, where forest-berry aromas meet wet earth. Understated power and concentration are married to a certain austerity. The superfine tannins deftly carry the very long and refined finish. Drink or hold. 96 points - James Suckling.
MORGON “COTE DU PY” 2023
Very violet and very mineral, this serious Cote du Py has all the depth and energy that we expect from this appellation. The really elegant medium-bodied palate has a pronounced mineral acidity, and the tannin structure builds to an imposing crescendo in the long, compact finish. A cuvee of four plots. Drink or hold. 96 points - James Suckling.
MOULIN A VENT "DESCHANES" 2023
Intense violet aroma and racy freshness for a Moulin-a-Vent. I love the interplay of fine tannins, elegant wet-stone acidity and restrained richness on the medium-bodied palate. Long, focused finish. The first vintage of this wine from a high-altitude section of this appellation with very stony, granitic soil. Drink or hold. 94 points - James Suckling.
MOULIN À VENT “AU MICHELON” 2023
This great Moulin-a-Vent is as deep as it is elegant, with terrific rooty originality. It has impressive concentration, the expertly crafted tannins building beautifully in the long, crisp and complete finish. Drink or hold. 95 points - James Suckling.
MORGON “COTE DU PY PASSERELLE 577" 2023
A giant of minerality and cool elegance in spite of its abundant power and compact tannic core. So much drive and density on the medium-bodied palate, also a wonderful freshness in the very long, seriously structured finish. Decades of aging potential ahead of it. Drinkable now but best from 2026. 97 points - James Suckling.
