Looking to quench your thirst with a gorgeous bottle of rosé this Summer? We have the perfect pair of Provencial Rosé from Domaine Gavoty, an institution of the region producing wines of impeccable quality vintage after vintage.
Having been in the game since 1806, the Gavoty family has had 7 generations work the vineyards with the evolving agricultural practices succeeding one after another to now develop into the great artisanal grower Domaine that Roselyne Gavoty now helms. Taking the task of getting organic and biodynamic practices embedded in the region while ensuring great wines are showcased for generations to come, this is a Domaine to watch for many vintages to come.
"A large, slightly mineral rose with its scents of red fruits and fresh mint, this is among the great successes of the vintage." - Revue du Vin de France 2024 on the Clarendon 2022.
This pair of Rosés are the perfectly selection to appeal to every rosé drinker. From the classy Classique to the big Clarendon, they all excel in their own settings. We would recommend opening up a bottle alongside a few sweet & salty snacks by the pool, or a nice spiced dish with garlic to enhance the flavours of Provence.
Please enjoy a few bottles while the weather is still warm (and even when its not)!
Tasting Notes
Clarendon Rosé 2022 - $60
The top cuvees named “Clarendon” pay homage to the pseudonym used by Bernard Gavoty during his time as a famous French music critic at FIGARO. Pale pink dress. Subtle nose of rose and white-fleshed fruit. In mouth: fullness and volume support the fresh fruit with refinement. It is full and crystalline, its aromas of fruit as well as its voluptuousness make it a good accompaniment to fish with melting flesh, such as poached turbot or grilled fish (sea bream) and it brings contrast with its elegant freshness. Wine cut for the table.
"The delicate pale pink colour responds to a subtle and captivating nose of tangerine, strawberry and reseda which introduces a dense and unctuous matter of crystalline purity. On the finish, the sensations linger first on peppery notes then on mineral flavours that summon gastronomy. Superb in its pure and slender expression but also in its potential." - La Tulip Rouge Committee
Grand Classique Rosé 2022 - $45
The Grand Classique rosé is made from younger vines, with the objective of this “heart of the range” cuvée to favour aromas and freshness. Made from a blend of 85% Cinsault and 15% Grenache it presents a translucent pale salmon pink colour with silvery hues. Delightful peach and raspberry scents rise out of the glass with some strawberry, musk and wet stone notes also chiming in. Delicious peach, strawberry and raspberry fruits show ample flesh and carry a supple feel. Infusions of musk and wet stone lie underneath. Good intensity finishing dry with brisk acidity and a lengthy aftertaste.
"With a very pale salmon colour, this aptly named rosé delivers a supple substance, on cherry and marzipan. No false note, the whole glides pleasantly and it is good that we expect at this price" - La Tulip Rouge Committee
