Champagne Dehours - Millésime 2017
The Millesime is rich with tropical overtones and ripe fruit.
The Domaine predominantly produces Meunier in addition to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Pinot Meunier varietal is best suited to this cooler area of Champagne and is a favourite of the Marne Valley. Dehours Champagnes are eagerly sought by champagne enthusiasts for their renowned “Meunier style;” bold, flavourful and showing a clear terroir-orientated approach.
Since 2013, the Dehours estate has offered a vintage cuvée each year, a blend of a selection of the best wines. The plots and grape varieties that are used in its composition vary every year, reflecting the particularity of each vintage. All the grapes come from the estate, and are grown according to HVE standards, favouring tillage and grassing of the plots. The berries harvested when ripe and carefully sorted are pressed directly and the juices ferment with “house” yeasts, before bottling without clarification or fining.
Disgorged in November 2024 with a dosage of 3.4 grams per liter, Dehours's 2017 Brut Le Millésime is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Pinot Meunier, sourced from the Les Grèves, Maisoncelle and Le Herbeau parcels. It bursts from the glass with an expressive bouquet of orange zest, quince and rooibos tea, mingling with blanched almonds. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, incisively fresh, marked by vibrant acidity and culminating in a lingering, lime-tinged finish. It has turned out very well—particularly given the challenges of the vintage. 93 points - Kristaps Karklins, Wine Advocate.
