Domaine de Cassiopée - Maranges Rouge "Les Plantes" 2022
This Maranges Rouge offers up aromas of wild berries and smoked meats.
Brand new estate in the heart of Sampigny-les-Maranges in 2020, Domaine de Cassiopée is run by Talloulah and Hugo Mathurin who are working hard to make a mark on this under the radar appellation. Domaine de Cassiopée sits on the eastern end within close proximity to the premier cru vineyards.
The king of the cellar is once again the 2021 Maranges Rouge Les Plantes, a cuvée produced from 110-year-old vines that are still in fine form. Offering up aromas of wild berries, violets, orange rind and smoked meats, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and lively, with an ample core of fruit that's framed by racy acids and ripe, powdery tannins. 91-93 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate. (2021 review)
100% Pinot Noir.

"An exciting new addition to the Burgundy winemaking scene!"
The reds are mostly destemmed, and matured in barrel (few of which are new) or concrete egg, depending on the cuvée.
