Domaine Rougeot - Bourgogne Passetoutgrain 'Vercherres" Nature 2021
This Bourgogne Passetoutgrain is fruity with hints of spices.
There is nothing more delicious than the Bourgogne Passetoutgrain. The vineyard is co-planted with Gamay (1/3) and Pinot Noir (2/3) in Meursault, on the Volnay side. The vineyard is strictly managed to yield fewer grapes of stunning concentration. Every steps of the way are identical to the premier cru made at this Domaine. The nose is blooming with notes of fresh cherry, five spices, strawberry and a hint of rose petal. The palate has a round attack, lively cherry coming through with silky, firm tannins with a clean and delicate finish. It can be paired with Charcuterie, roast pork, lamb and cow cheeses. Drink now.
Supplies of the Vercherres cuvée are so rare that Pierre-Henri had to unlock a cupboard to extract one of his remaining bottles. Glorious crimson in colour, with such an extraordinary, explosive nose with a wealth of pinot fruit and then some slightly more rugged gamay energy behind. Maybe a fraction more acrid in 2021 than in the last few years. Drink from 2022-2024.
1/3 Gamay, 2/3 Pinot Noir.
