Pierre-Henri Rougeot - Chassagne-Montrachet "Le Paradis"2022
Pierre-Henri Rougeot is a young vigneron with generations of family roots in the town of Meursault. He grew up learning farming and the craft of winemaking with his father, and by studying in Beaune. In 2017, he decided to add one more activity, a small negoce where he could make wines his way. The fruit comes from his family Estate, vineyards which are farmed organically. Located halfway up the slope, under La Romanée, this limestone climate allows this 60-year-old plot to render an important minerality.
A negociant cuvée sourced from two plots. Light lemon colour. Quite tense on the nose, fresh pears and citrus. Plenty of energy, medium plus bodied, lemon tinted finish, middleweight and length. Drink from 2026-2030. 88-90 points, Jasper morris, Inside burgundy.. 100% Chardonnay.
- Technical notes
Pierre-Henri makes his wines with little intervention meaning No SO2 until bottling, no fining and no filtration, the reds are macerated with whole-cluster, and age in neural barrels, the whites are pressed directly in barrels, no battonage and ageing sur lees.
