Domaine Hudelot-Noellat - Chambolle-Musigny 2022
This Chambolle-Musigny is very fine with beautiful red fruits.
Domaine Hudelot-Noellat is an iconic producer in the Côte de Nuits. The style of the Domaine is defined by elegance and purity. The vines of the Chambolle-Musigny were planted in 1955 with fine clones of Pinot Noir.
Lovely glowing purple, this is very sensual with an immediate red fruit charm. Very pretty yet with a fresh intensity, redcurrant and raspberry, above all a sense of purity and energy. This will make a beautiful Chambolle. Drink from 2028-2033. 90-92 points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy 100% Pinot Noir.
- What we say
- Technical notes
"You’ll be impressed by the charm of this Chambolle-Musigny. It is such a beautiful lady of a wine. The body has very fine lines, a pretty fruit and structure."
Charles Van Canneyt, Alain Hudelot-Noellat’s grandson, took over the Domaine in 2008 and for the last few vintages he has been entirely in charge of making the wines and he does so incredibly well. The wines have never been as good as they are now. Charles has a very clear approach when making his wines concerning the style he wants to achieve- elegance and purity. In order to do this Charles is careful not to overpower the taste of the wine made from his prestigious vineyards, which are a tremendous asset. With an ideal location, old vines to very old vines and fine clones of Pinot Noir, the challenge is to give the natural expression of the grapes the strongest voice. In 2014, Charles used around 20 to 25% of the whole bunch during the winemaking. Furthermore, he is only using natural yeast, fermenting the must in concrete vats and the maturation is long but with the right balance of oak used. The oak component rarely shows in the wines, only through subtle notes and aromas. This is a brilliant style of winemaking that champions the Pinot Noir varietal.
