Tasting Notes

This Vosne-Romanée is classy and incredibly valued, with energetic red-and-black-fruited aromas and rose petal tones.

Domaine Confuron-Gindre was established six generations ago in Vosne-Romanée and is located on Rue de La Tâche. A great sign! Though they don't own the monopoly of La Tâche (Domaine Romanée-Conti does), François Confuron-Gindre owns a myriad of ideally located vineyards in Vosne-Romanée and a smattering in Nuits-St-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin. The Domaine accounts for 11 hectares, with five village wines, across the aforementioned villages; four Premier Crus in Vosne-Romanée; and the one Grand Cru from Échezeaux. A blessing, considering Vosne-Romanée is the Holy Grail for Pinot Noir lovers. The Domaine has been under the radar for quite some time, but since Edouard, Francois's son, is gradually taking over, the word is now out.

This Vosne-Romanée derives from a blend of 10 different plots with a total surface area of 2.37 ha. Each plot brings its own character to the assembly. There are vines between 30 and 70 years old, all located near the village from sites such as "Prés de la Folie."

Bright fresh mid purple. The nose has a pleasing largely raspberry fruit, with a beautiful expression of fresh red berries including a little strawberry tingle on the plate. Just a little firm and lightly peppery on the finish, as so many wines this year. Drink from 2025-2029. 88-91 points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy. 100% Pinot Noir.

"It is a very rare opportunity to find such a jewel of a Domaine in Vosne-Romanée making superb wines, yet still deeply under the radar."

"This wine ages in barrels over a period of around 18 months with 20% to 30% new oak depending on the vintage."
