Domaine Joseph Colin - Puligny-Montrachet "Le Trezin" 2022
This Puligny-Montrachet “Le Trezin” reflects the freshness and purity of its limestone terroir.
Joseph Colin initially trained at Domaine Marc Colin, working alongside his brother, Pierre-Yves, to make the family wines. In 2016, Joseph decided to create his own Domaine, and, subsequently, inherited just over six hectares of vineyards from his family holding, representing about nineteen different appellations, to start his exciting new venture. This comes from vines planted in 1970 from 0.32 hectares in the lieu-dit "Le Trezin" in Puligny-Montrachet. The vineyard is the only Village-level site in Blagny positioned 400 metres above sea level. It is located at the top of the slope and is characterised by its clay-poor, limestone-rich soil, steep incline and cooler location.
Slightly more lemon than lime in colour. The bouquet has a floral elegance, and then there is surprising weight of fruit on the palate, with even a slightly tannic note behind. A powerful trenchant finish, this is less ready than many of the St-Aubin 1ers Crus. Drink from 2027-2031. 90-93 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy.
This Puligny-Montrachet reflects the freshness and purity of its limestone terroir, with aromas of grapefruit and lemon zest, green apple, lifted notes of almond, hazelnut and burnt butter. The palate is nicely concentrated showing a large spectrum of white orchard fruit, buttery and mineral characters with a lengthy finish. It will perfectly pair with fine foods such as foie gras, caviar, oysters, crayfish, scallops and white fish. You can drink it now with a 30-minute decant before serving or cellar it up until 2030+. 100% Chardonnay.

Technical notes
Only healthy grapes make it to the press; the wines are also handled as little as possible, therefore there is no bâttonage, filtration or fining and no sulphur is used during the winemaking process until racking where minimal amounts are used. Fermentation and maceration is processed in 350-litre oak barrels for 12 months, before three months in stainless before bottling.
