Chateau Grand Village Blanc 2023
The Grand Village Blanc elegantly styled with savoury accents to the intense citrus flavours and harmonious acidity.
Chateau Lafleur is a smaller house between estates Petrus and La Fleur-Petrus that utilises its unique terroir to create elegance, femininity, and subtlety within their wines. Founded in 1990 by Sylvie and Jacques Guinaudeau, the white wine of Grand Village originates from clay-rich soils situated on top of the limestone mother rock. This is a wine of great complexity and an exceptional personality. They replanted a number of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon parcels in the early 1990s. Manual harvest performed with double sorting at the vineyard.
Compared to the 2022, the 2023 Grand Village Blanc is more fruity and dense, evoking aromas of lemon oil, verbena, kumquat and confit citrus. Broad but tensile, it’s medium-bodied with a fleshy core of fruit and a delicately phenolic frame that segues into a chalky, saline and bright finish. This blend of 80% Sauvignon and 20% Sémillon is simply stunning. 91-93 points, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate.
