  • CONFURON-GINDRE - COTEAUX BOURGUIGNONS 2017 - $32

Domaine Confuron-Gindre has been established six generations ago in Vosne-Romanée and is located Rue de La Tâche. A great sign! Though they don't own the monopoly of la Tâche (Romanée-Conti does), François Confuron-Gindre owns a myriad of ideally located vineyards in Vosne-Romanée and hints in Nuits-St-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin. The Domaine accounts for 11 hectares, with five village wines, four premier crus in Vosne-Romanée and one grand cru Échezeaux. A blessing, considering Vosne-Romanée is the Holy Grail for Pinot Noir lovers.  The Domaine has been under the radar for quite some time, but since Edouard, Francois's son is gradually taking over, the word is out.

The Coteaux Bourguignons is a fun classification which makes Burgundy much more affordable and fun. The 2017 cuvée is a blend 2/3 Pinot and 1/3 Gamay hailing from a few plots, located at several different locations through Nuits-St-Georges and Vosne-Romanée. The wine is fully destemed, fermented and aged in stainless steel vats. The bouquet is lush and seductive, showing blackberry and raspberry zing, peppered beef, mushrooms and black tea leaves. The palate cotes the mouth with delicious mixed berries and silky, polished tannins add to an overall feeling of finesse, something that is hard to find at this level. Enjoy with lighter dishes like pork, roast chicken, Thai beef salad, and charcuterie. Drink now by the dozen. 2/3 Pinot Noir, 1/3 Gamay.

  • RÉGIS MINET - POUILLY-FUMÉ "VIEILLES VIGNES" 2018 - $49:

Domaine Minet is crafting exciting Sauvignon Blancs grown on Kimmeridgian marl and oyster shell sediment. These Sauvignon Blancs are unique and most famous for their lively, fresh aromatic and taste. The “Vieilles Vignes” cuvée has been crafted with grapes from the oldest vines of the Domaine. The vines average 30 years in age.
This wine is showing spectacular fresh flavours of apple, blackcurrant bud, kiwi and subtle wet stone. On the palate the aromatic explodes with numerous layers of fruits driven by a mouth-watering acidity. It can be paired with oysters and seafood or the Loire Valley’s famous Chavignol goat cheese. It is perfect to drink now. 100% Sauvignon Blanc.

  • DOMAINE GAVOTY - ROSÉ CIGALE PROVENCE 2018 - $25

Domaine Gavoty excels at creating soulful Rosé that is very refreshing. This complex and subtle Rosé is the resultant blend of three grape varieties grown on clay and limestone.

A bright salmon pink colour the bouquet is Fruity and aromatic with lovely lush strawberries, raspberries. The palate is well balanced and quite fruit forward with crunchy acidity and a bone dry finish. I would enjoy this with Mediterranean salads and grilled prawn or lamb skewers, bruschetta, pesto pasta, dip and cheese boards. Drink now. Grenache, Cinsault.
