This Clos Prieur is muscular with an outstanding depth of flavours.

Domaine Marc Roy is an impressive Domaine of only four hectares. Their wines are arguably the most accomplished of the village appellation. “Clos Prieur” is a climat* located right under the Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru climat. Its upper part is classified as 1er Cru whilst its lower part is classified as a village appellation. The highest care is taken when producing this wine making it comparable to good 1er Crus from Gevrey-Chambertin.

The wine shows lively fruit as well as subtle earthy flavours. The taste is complex with firm tannins. It can be paired with barbecued red meats, game meat and a large array of cow cheeses.

You can cellar it for up to 15 years or enjoy it in its youth by decanting it for 45 minutes before serving. 100% Pinot Noir.

*Climat refers to a named plot of vineyard.

"The climat “Clos Prieur” is in a very good location in Gevrey-Chambertin. The nose opens on red currant, autumn leaf, cherry and keeps going on black tea. This is a muscular Gevrey-Chambertin, with an outstanding depth of flavours."

Alexandrine Roy knows her vineyards intimately. The wine growing process is regarded as paramount at the Domaine. Vine by vine, the yields are managed to produce only small crops of healthy and concentrated grapes. She identifies the premium vines within her vineyards and exploits them in this amazing cuvée. The grapes are all “millerandées”, or naturally smaller berries than the norm. It has a greater natural concentration. After the harvest is done by hand, Alexandrine uses traditional techniques to extract the flavours of the unique terroir* of Gevrey-Chambertin from these beautiful grapes. The wine is matured in French oak barrels with half being new.

*Terroir is the specific combination of location, vineyard, climate and people that create a wine. Accordingly, different terroirs produce different wines.
