This Moulin-à-Vent Gamay is powerful and detailed.

Domaine de Bel-Air, owned and operated by Jean-Marc Lafont is producing Beaujolais wines of great finesse. It is indeed Jean-Marc’s exemplary work in his very well-located vineyards that is the key to these magnificent wines. The Moulin-à-Vent “Granit et Manganese” is, fittingly, from a vineyard planted on granite and manganese. The vines are on average 80 years old and bring a natural concentration into this wine. Moreover, the wine is matured in French oak barrels for fifteen months adding to its deep complexity.

The nose is layered with faded rose, dry leaves, intense black fruits and minerality. On the palate the tannins are silky and the flavours linger. It pairs well with a slow cooked lamb shoulder, terrines, game or meat on the barbecue.

This wine needs to be decanted 45 minutes before serving and it can be cellared up until 2025. 100% Gamay.

"This Moulin-à-Vent “Granit et Manganese” is a powerful wine with a very detailed nose and palate. It is impressive and it should be considered among the very best examples of Beaujolais wines."

At Domaine de Bel-Air, from harvest to the bottling, the process is gentle and simple. All the grapes are harvested by hand with a first selection made in the vineyard. Any damaged or unripe grapes are discarded and the remainder are taken to the winery. The grapes are then sorted a second time on a sorting table to further eliminate damaged berries and grapes that are not ripe enough. Finally, these select grapes are destemmed and undergo their alcoholic fermentation in a stainless steel vat.

When the process is finished, the remaining grapes are pressed in a pneumatic press and the wine is matured in French oak barrels for fifteen months before bottling.
