The “Les Santenots” is intoxicating, with deep primary dark berries, alluring chalky soil tones and herbal, spicy top notes.

STRICTLY ALLOCATED: Since these wines are some of the rarest and the most in demand in the world, only clients with whom Clos Cachet has an existing relationship will be considered for an allocation. All Coche-Dury wines are imported directly from the Domaine, guaranteeing its provenance.

There isn't a single Domaine in Burgundy more highly praised than Coche-Dury. Jean-François Coche has been awarded numerous titles from top wine critics the world over. He was, for example, named "The King of Meursault" by Jancis Robinson. His name is as respected as Lalou Leroy's in Côte de Nuits and his son Raphaël, who took over in 2010, has embarked on an equally ambitious course. Both the viticulture and winemaking are amongst the most elite in Burgundy. These wines are nigh on impossible to find, as whatever is made available is quickly seized upon by the legion of fans devoted to these veritable elixirs. “Les Santenots Cuvée Gauvin” is purchased fruit from the charity venture by Hospices de Beaune. The grapes are sourced from “Les Plures (0.72ha)” and “Santenots du Milieu (0.68ha)” that were planted, respectively, in 1962 and 1987 on clay and limestone soils, from vineyards that are farmed organically. These sites are highly prized by the Hospices de Beaune.

The bouquet is is intoxicating, with deep primary dark berries, alluring chalky soil tones and herbal, spicy top notes. The palate is plush and structured with primary dark fruit showing as well as firm, lifted chewy tannins, excellent focus and grip, and a long, well-balanced and powerful finish. All that is needed is a bit of patience here so decant for around 45 minutes or age till 2025+. It can be enjoyed with venison, veal, duck, quail, kangaroo, smoked meats and charred eggplant. 100% Pinot Noir.
