Pétrus is undoubtedly one of the best wines in the world.

Clos Cachet is one of the select few direct importers of Pétrus in Australia. Therefore, the bottles have only travelled once and their provenance is guaranteed.

Pétrus is undoubtedly one of the most acclaimed wines of Bordeaux and certainly the best of Pomerol. Its unique terroir and the astounding care taken in the growing of the vines and the winemaking make it one of the most exceptional wines on Earth. The vineyard sits at the highest elevation point in Pomerol and benefits from the blue vein that runs through its clay.

The 2016 vintage is remarkable, probably in the likes of 2010, showing strength and density yet maintaining an intricate elegance. The complex floral nose opens up to notes of spice and a standout depth of flavour. On the palate, Pétrus has an unequalled energy and endless finish. It can be cellared for more than a generation or opened from 2026+. 100% Merlot.

"What can I say apart that I feel so humbled in the face of such an incredible wine. Pétrus in 2016 is sensational, powerful, and dense with exquisite details that only Pétrus achieves. It is a must to have in your cellar."

The care in the vineyard has always been a key element at Pétrus. The use of chemicals has been banned so as to emphasize the environmental balance in the vineyard. Pétrus conducts a massal selection to keep the strong DNA of their vines. The oldest vines to date were planted in 1952 with an average age of 40 years old. The youngest vines have been planted at a high density of 7,000 vines per hectare to increase competition between the vines, thereby achieving more highly-concentrated fruit. All of the grapes are destemmed. Today, an optical sorting table is used to eliminate unwanted berries with high precision. The berries are then gently crushed and a cold maceration starts in one of the 12 concrete vats of Pétrus reflecting a micro vinification of the 14 different plots delimitated at Pétrus. 100% merlot picked from September 28 to October 11 and only 55% new oak used.
