The Nuits-St-Georges 1er cru "La Richemone" has all the strength of a classy Morey with a refined palate.

Having helmed the iconic Domaine Hudelot-Noellat since 2008, Charles Van Canneyt is well known among burgundy connoisseurs.  Charles is Alain Hudelot’s grandson and a very talented and skilled winemaker in his own right. Through his extensive network of Burgundy’s finest growers, Charles sources excellent grapes. By style, it’s aligned with the family wines, pure and terroir transparent.

The premier cru “La Richemone” vineyard is nestled in between the famous premier crus "Aux Murgers", "Aux Cras", "Aux Chaignots" and "Les Damodes". All these being on the Vosne-Romanée side, therefore more on the seductive and spices flavour profile.

La Richemone shows the power and muscle that are typical of the site. Super-ripe black cherry, mocha, new leather, licorice and game add to the wine's burly, potent feel.

On the palate, the structure is apparent, though it holds nicely this very powerful wine. It can be paired with roast chicken, beef burgundy, game, charcoaled beef or cow cheese. It can be decanted for 30 minutes before serving or cellared up until 2028+. 100% Pinot Noir.

A Nuits-St-Georges 1er cru of impact and very well worth your attention.

Charles Van Canneyt buys must through an enviable network of top quality growers. His aim is to work with likeminded vignerons, who are respectful of their soil and who have exceptionally well-located vineyards. After being pressed, the wine is collected to be aged in Charles’ cellar. Maturation is undertaken in French oak barrels with 20% new oak for twelve months.
