Tasting Notes

The Bouzy Grand Cru Rosé is a blend of the 2017 vintage (70%) and 30% reserve wine . The grape varieties used are Chardonnay accounting for 65% of the blend and Pinot Noir accounting for 35% of which 7% is added as red wine. In Bouzy at Pierre Paillard, the tradition is to blend their Champagne with some “Bouzy rouge”, a special cuvée of dry red wine made from the very qualitative Bouzy grapes. 7% of “Bouzy rouge” has been included into the blend providing a red fruit flavour that you can’t find anywhere else. Finally, the wine and then the Champagne spend 30 months on their lees to mature in the cellar.

It is very elegant and aromatic. The nose is deep, delivering aromas of red fruit and some hints of flowers. The mouthfeel is silky and the bubbles are tiny and elegant. Drink now. Extra Brut – 1.8 grams per litre of dosage. Disgorged July 2018.

The NV Bouzy Grand Cru Rosé Les Terres Roses XIII is a blended rosé based on the 2013 vintage (70%), completed with 2012 and 2011 plus 4% of red wine. The wine has a super pale pink color, one of the brightest I have ever seen in Champagne. The bouquet is very clear, pure, fresh and highly delicate, even with citrus flavors. Light yet intense and persistent on the palate, this is a fascinating rosé that could be enjoyed as a lovely, delicate Extra-Brut with clear focus and straight character. This is an exciting Champagne of great elegance, finesse and expression. Disgorged in July 2017 with three grams of dosage. Tasted in April 2018. 94 points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate.
